Born and raised in Cookstown, Ireland where I enjoyed a happy childhood with my parents and three brothers and after attending College in Belfast and England, I decided to emigrate to the United States, settling in Santa Barbara, California in 1994.  I worked as a finish carpenter for several contractors in the areas of Montecito and Hope Ranch and in 1997 also launched my own company, Lilliput Designs Custom Cabinetry.  This business is still in full operation after moving to the Denver/Boulder area in 2006.

Architectural Scale Creations has been my parallel business and personal passion since my youth.  I have always been both fascinated by and skilled in architecture scale modeling, successfully channeling my construction experience into meaningful and unique art works.

My first significant scale model was commissioned by the Santa Barbara Trust for Historic Preservation.  Curator Patrick O’Dowd asked me to build a scale model of the Casa De La Guerra, an historic home and town center, as it would have been in 1850.   The Casa de la Guerra has been the heart of Santa Barbara’s economic, social and political history since its construction in 1820.  Creating a scale replica of the Casa and its supporting buildings, including stables, staff and military quarters, blacksmith, butcher, and bakery, all required extensive research.  This project was the only one I used a ¼” scale as is generally seen in model trains.  This piece remains on permanent exhibit at the Trust Museum in Santa Barbara.

As my projects developed I moved towards a larger scale which allows for more accurate construction methods, the end result overflowing with detail and realism.  I hope you will enjoy exploring the Lake House and the Barn, both built in one inch scale (1 inch = 1 foot) and all the magic this artistic format creates. I continue to produce my own artwork through Architectural Scale Creations as well as my work as a finish carpenter and cabinet maker with Lilliput Designs.

Further inquires regarding existing work or commissions are encouraged.
